How To Use Suede

Shake well. Apply with a brush in a cross-hatching motion. Allow to dry between coats. Protect finish with a topcoat of Suede Varnish. Fully cured in 7-10 days. Water-based. Permanent. Soap and water clean-up.

Add a clear, soft finish to with DecoArt Suede Soft-Touch Matte Varnish. This durable topcoat fuses with the paint to provide a strong layer of protection against daily use. To use, shake well and apply with a brush. Allow to dry to the touch before adding additional coats. Cure for 7 days before heavy use. Water-based. Soap and water clean-up.

Tips For Suede

For best results, use a fan brush or flat brush that correlates in size to that of your project.

To apply product, use a loaded brush and paint on the surface with a crosshatch motion. With most surfaces, 2 coats will cover and saturate with color - be sure to allow the first coat to dry completely before applying a second.

After letting the surface dry completely, apply the Suede Varnish using the same crosshatch method, as to not have combating surface textures.

Suede can also be used for stenciling. Simply set the stencil in place, secure with painters tape and use a flat brush to apply the paint through the stencil. Remove stencil immediately (do not wait for the Suede to dry as that may form a bridge with the stencil)

Decorating Ideas:
  1. Paint a dresser with Americana Decor Chalky Finish and paint the drawers in Suede!
  2. Paint a side table with Suede and add a bold accent by stenciling over it with Americana Decor Texture Metallic!
  3. Paint a table top with any of our Americana Decor Products, such as American Decor Satin and paint the legs with Suede.
