Painted Floral Wooden Crates

SUPPLIES

Americana® Acrylics

  • Black Plum (DA172)
  • Coral Blush (DA292)
  • Driftwood (DA171)
  • Hauser Light Green (DA131)
  • Warm White (DA239)

Galaxy Glitter™

  • Champagne Starburst (DGG14)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • paper towels
  • transfer paper (or carbon paper)
  • #3 round brush
  • 1" angular shader brush (Americana Decor)
  • pencil
  • wooden nesting crates

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Allow paint to fully dry in between steps.

  1. Paint the wooden crates with a coat of Driftwood. Let dry.

  2. Once the crates are dry, download and print out the floral pattern. Layer the pattern on top of a piece of carbon or transfer paper onto the crate and trace the pattern with a pencil to transfer the design.

  3. Mix both Coral Blush and Black Plum 50/50 with Warm White to get lighter tones. Use a #3 round brush to paint in the designs. (See photo for color placement.)

  4. Once the shape is dry, use a 1" angular brush to add details to the flowers using Black Plum and Coral Blush. Let dry and use 1" angular brush and Hauser Light Green for the leaves.

  5. Use a 1" angular brush to apply Champagne Starburst on the corners to add a hint of glamour.

HELPFUL HINTS

Have a jar of water on hand to place your paintbrushes while you're working so that they don't dry out. Keep a paper towel handy to dry them off on when it's time to use them again.
