Use old doilies to create eye-catching covers for art journals with Americana® Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • palette or plastic plate
    • paintbrushes
    • vinyl stencil
    • art journal

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Paint the entire surface of the journal cover using Bahama Blue.
      2. Instruction #1
    2. Add strokes of Royal Fuchsia.
      3. Instruction #2
    3. Add strokes of Sour Apple.
      4. Instruction #3
    4. Add strokes of Bright Yellow. Let all paint dry completely.
      5. Instruction #4
    5. Apply vinyl stencil to desired portion of book.
      6. Instruction #5
    6. Continue with strokes of colors to make doily design pop.
      7. Instruction #6
    7. Remove stencil and let dry.
      8. Instruction #7
    8. Once dry add another doily stencil if desired.
      9. Instruction #8
    9. Add more strokes of paint to make the design stand out.
      10. Instruction #9
    10. Remove stencil and let all paint dry.
      11. Instruction #10
    11. Add a layer of DuraClear Matte Varnish to all painted surfaces. Let dry. Add a second coat for extra durability.
      12. Instruction #11
    12. Repeat directions for any additional books.
