How to Use Fluid Art Ready-To-Pour

Apply paint to the surface by pouring directly from the bottle or from a cup. Tilt surface to move paint. If desired, finish with DecoArt Clear Pouring Topcoat once dry. Permanent. Fast drying. Intermixable. Soap and water clean up while wet.

Techniques For Using Fluid Art Ready-To-Pour

Dirty Pour Cup Flip

Pour colors into cup one at a time layering desired amounts. *First color in will be on top* Set 2D substrate over cup opening and flip over. Lift cup and move substrate around to cover the surface with paint.

Dirty Ring Pour

Pour colors into cup one at a time layering desired amounts. Cup is then poured onto surface. For 3D surface, substrate on level surface. Pour the cup of paint over the 3D substrate to drip over surface until desired look is achieved.

Direct Pour

Pour paint directly onto substrate in random fashion. Move the substrate around to cover the entire surface.

Direct Drip Pour

Pour paint directly onto substrate in random fashion while substrate in vertical. Allow the paint to drip down but not cover the entire surface.

Dutch (Straw Blow) Pour

Works best with a flat surface. Cover substrate with white. Directly pour a few colors that would blend well onto the surface. Pour more white paint onto the outer edge of the color paint. Blow into paint with a straw in one direction until desired effect is achieved.

Dip Pour With Plastic Wrap

Works best with a flat surface. Cover substrate in color. While wet, directly pour second color in 5-6 small puddles in a circle shape (think flower petals). Then, layer several more colors onto small puddles. Drag through the puddles with a pointed tool toward the edges of the surface. Cut plastic wrap to the size of surface. Place plastic slowly onto the surface. Lightly press down. Pull up by edges slowly, one at a time.

Reverse Dip Pour

Use overspill of a previous pour or directly pour paint onto a covered flat surface randomly. Dip front of substrate into paint until desired look is achieved.

Puddle Pour

Directly pour circles of paint randomly over the surface. Layer colors on top of puddles. Move the substrate around until surface is covered and desired look is achieved.

Puddle Pour With Drag Pour

Cover flat surface with base color. While wet, directly pour puddles of paint in rows over the entire surface. Pour more puddles over existing colors. With a pointed tool, starting in the middle of each puddle, drag the tool through and out.

Skin Pour

Take freezer paper, tape to flat smooth surface. Directly pour rings of colors onto the surface of the freezer paper. Lift slightly to move colors. Pour a few more than needed for your intended substrate. Allow rings to dry completely. Peel and stick to the surface of the substrate. Can use decoupage to make paint secured to the surface if wanted or needed.

Tips For Using Fluid Art Ready-To-Pour

If shaking the bottle before use is causing unwanted bubbles within your piece, trying rolling the bottles instead.

EXPERIMENT! There's not wrong way to do a paint pour - Try pouring your colors directly onto the canvas or layer your colors into a cup first. You can pour the cup onto your surface or lay your canvas on top of the cup, flip both them together and then lift the cup. Pour your paints through a sieve or a strainer to achieve unique effects. Tilt your canvas at extreme angles or gently shift it around to move the paint across your surface. The possibilities are endless and so are the results!
