Unexplained Worlds Tag

Do you ever wonder about new worlds or get the itch to go exploring? I do! I look out into the night sky and wonder about other planets and what life forms might be on them. Will we meet them, or have we already? Then I think closer to home and wonder what lives in the deep oceans of our world that we have yet to discover. We have already found some truly unusual creatures, and I like to think we still have many mysteries of unexplored worlds to find.

  • Graphite Pencil
  • Baby wipes or damp cloth
  • Cosmetic sponge
  • Heat Tool (for quick drying)

Instructions :

Use a palette knife with the Distressed Harlequin stencil, and apply Texture Medium through it, so that it will go around the photo area. I penciled in on the tag where the photo would be placed. Use the palette knife to also dab some onto the circle piece. Let dry thoroughly.

Brush chipboard pieces with White and Black Gesso in the appropriate areas. Let dry.

Paint chipboard in layers with the fluid acrylics, letting it dry between layers. The first layer is Payne’s Grey, then Quinacridone Gold, and finish it with Green Gold.

Paint the light bulb areas of the chipboard, starting with Hansa Yellow Medium fluid acrylic and finishing it with Interference Gold.

Paint the large tag with Prussian Blue Hue heavy body acrylic. Use a baby wipe or damp cloth to smooth the color out and remove it in areas to lighten the hue. I like how the Texture Medium has some resist qualities to it.

Dry brush Cerulean Blue and Cobalt Teal Hue heavy body acrylics over the Prussian Blue. Use a baby wipe to remove paint as needed in order to achieve a variegated effect.

Sponge Cobalt Teal Hue fluid acrylic through the Galaxy stencil in the top area of the tag.

Use the Misters and spritz and splatter Primary Yellow, Primary Magenta, and Purple onto the tag. Vary the pressure on the nozzle to get different size drops.

Glue collage photo onto the tag, then rub in a light layer of Quinacridone Gold fluid acrylic with your finger to create a vintage look.

Rub Copper Kettle Metallic Lustre onto the Angler fish chipboard. Also, rub it around the edges of the tag to finish it off.

I taught Earth Science for many, many years, and it still rears its scientific head, even when I am in my creative zone. My muse finds interesting ways to combine my science background with my art! Maura

Thinking of finding the images on your tag in an unexplained world is a bit on the wild side for me Maura but it is definitely obvious that your world would be quite STUNNING with it's VIVID blue, grungy BEAUTY. As for your 'creature' - he's quite YUMMY in texture but UGLY in scare factor!!! Great creativity - unique and FUN!!! Xj.
