When it comes to Holidays I love creating new decor for around my house, and I love switching it up from year to year.  Which means I have to get creative about how to get new decor while saving money.  This Halloween Painted Clipboard is one of those ways.  I've had these boring dollar store clipboard sitting around in a drawer, and I knew I wanted something cute to hang a Halloween themed piece of artwork or printable from.  It was the perfect thing to transform and repurpose for my Holiday decor.

Items needed:

  • Americana Acrylics 2oz - Lamp (Ebony) Black
  • Americana Stencils 12x12 - Busy Bee
  • Clipboard
  • Foam Pouncer / Dobber Brush
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Painter’s Tape

I prepped my clipboard by covering the clip hardware with painters tape.  I then gave the entire board a coat of white paint.  When the white paint is dry position your stencil, working with a stencil can be tricky around the clip part so do what works best for you.  I started below the clip and tape my stencil in place to the surface I painted on.  Using my foam pouncer / dobber brush I applied the black paint over the stencil.  Once it was dry enough to pull up the stencil I positioned the stencil in any areas that didn't get stenciled already, mostly around the clip part.  This part will get a little mess but nothing you can't fix easily.  Do your best to hold the stencil down and paint it.  If you get any bleeds or mistakes simply grab a small thin paint brush and touch up with your paint.  Once it's all dry remove your painters tape from the clip and your all set.  I chose this pattern because it reminded me of a spider web for Halloween.

I used a cutting machine to create a cute sign for my clipboard and just put it with the clipboard.  This would make a great teachers gift for Halloween or neighbor gift.
