Summer Vibes Wood Pallet Sign

Summer vibes are all about being outside and by the water.  Whether that is at the ocean, lake, beach, or pool, cooling off by the water is a must in the heat.  Today, I am sharing how you can bring those blue waters home by making a Summer Vibes Wood Pallet Sign that is perfect for inside or outside.  This sign is super easy to make with a pre-made pallet, stencil, and Americana Decor Outdoor Living Paint in blue hues.

Items needed:

  • Americana Decor Outdoor Living 8oz - Poolside
  • Americana Decor Outdoor Living 8oz - Turquoise Sky
  • Assorted Paint Brushes
  • Stencil
  • Sandpaper
  • Pre-Made Wood Pallet

Instructions:

Gather your supplies!

I am starting in the middle of the palette with the lighter blue shade, Poolside.  I applied a thin coat carefully over the stencil.

To create an ombre effect, I mixed Poolside with Multi-Surface Paint in Cotton Ball and applied a thin layer as well.

I used the same ombre technique using Turquoise Sky Outdoor Living and Multi-Surface in Cotton Ball.  One application of paint in each color was enough coverage for me.  You can still see some of the wood peaking through, which is the rustic look I was going for.  If you wanted full coverage, the the first layer of paint dry completely, lightly sand, and apply a second coat.

Once the paint is completely dry, I removed the stencil with a weeding tool.  Applying thin layers of paint over stencils is preferred and helps the paint not bleed underneath.

I used a piece of sandpaper to lightly distress the paint in some areas and around the edges.  I thought this step would give a laid-back vibe to the sign.

This sign was very easy to make.  If you have never made a pallet sign before, this might be a good first project to start with.  I hope you enjoy my Summer Vibes Pallet Sign and have a fun summer!
