Summer Boredom Buster Spinner
Posted by DecoArt on May 28th 2019
My kids are officially on summer break and we are all looking forward to sleeping in and pool days. The first few weeks of summer break always start off great, everyone is excited about lounging by the pool, watching TV and hanging out with friends. But, it won't be long before I start to hear the familiar "Mom, I'm bored" statements. This summer I'm tackling boredom and giving the kids a new approach with a DIY Summer Boredom Buster Spinner.
That's right, the next time I hear "I'm bored" I can tell the kids to take a chance, spin the wheel and beat those summer blues with this fun DIY. This craft is actually super easy to make, and you will be spinning your way to fun in no time. All you need are a few simple supplies and the NEW 2019 DecoArt Extreme Sheen colors.
Items needed:
DecoArt Extreme Sheen - Ruby
DecoArt Extreme Sheen - Berry
DecoArt Extreme Sheen - Coral
DecoArt Extreme Sheen - Jadeite
DecoArt Extreme Sheen - Sky Blue Topaz
DecoArt Extreme Sheen - Lavender Frost
12-inch cardboard circle (I used a cake circle)
Fidget Spinner
3 wooden beads
4-inch cardboard circle
Hot glue gun
Paint Brush
Ribbon
Ruler
Pencil
Painters Tape
Printable Boredom Buster Activities
Start by using the ruler to divide the circle into eight sections.
Next, tape off each section so that you paint the eight different sections with the DecoArt Extreme Sheen metallic paint.
Once the paint has dried it's time to add your boredom buster activities. Print the FREE Boredom Buster Activities printable and cut out each section.
Glue the activities to each colored section of the wheel. If you want to be able to switch out activities throughout the summer use double sided tape so you can remove them and add new ones later on.
Hot glue 3 wooden beads to the three points of the fidget spinner.
Cut out the arrow and adhere it to the center of the small cardboard circle. Hot glue the 4-inch cardboard circle to the beads.
Hot glue the center of the fidget spinner to the center of the 12-inch wheel.
Next time your kids tell you they are bored you can simply point to the DIY Summer Boredom Buster Spinner and tell them to take their chance with the wheel. They are sure to find an activity that will spark creativity and keep them entertained...at least for a little bit. What are some activities you would add to your wheel of fun?
