Paint your own XL flower motif on a sweatshirt using SoSoft® Fabric Paint.

SUPPLIES

• paper towels
• masking tape
• shirtboard or plastic-covered cardboard
• sweatshirt
• 3/4" flat brush

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Choose a sweatshirt you would like to work on. (I chose a soft blue colored sweatshirt to go nicely with the warm paint colors that I used for the flower.)

2. Stretch the sweatshirt over a shirt form or a board slightly larger than the shirt. Tape down the sleeves to keep out of the way; tape down the neck and bottom of the shirt, if needed, to keep the shirt flat for painting.

3. Using masking tape, drag across the sweatshirt surface to pick up any loose lint or hair. Mask off the area on the shirt where you want to place the flower.

4. Load a 3/4" flat brush with Dark Rose.

5. Using the edge of the brush and starting the center of the flower, paint curved shapes onto the shirt. Continue to paint on the curved shapes as you build up the flower shape.

6. Leave spaces where the sweatshirt shows through until you get the overall shape of flower you like.

7. Paint Bright Coral into the empty areas of the flower.

8. No need to wash the brush before the next step; just wipe off the extra paint onto a paper towel.

9. Paint Peaches & Cream onto some of the Bright Coral areas for highlights.

10. Using a clean brush, paint the general shape of leaves using Olive Green and then filling with Avocado Green.

11. For added highlight in the leaves, paint some areas with Green Apple.

12. Add a Writer Tip to a bottle of Santa Red.

13. Loosely outline the shape of flower and leaves with Santa Red and the Writer Tip. Also, outline some areas inside the flower shape.

14. Use same Writer Tip and Santa Red to draw a rectangle shape and write in "BLOOM" or any other word to personalize.

15. Let dry completely before removing from the board.

16. This is an easy and fun idea for a new or upcycled sweatshirt.
