SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • scissors
    • ruler
    • 1" flat brush
    • fine-grit sandpaper
    • 1/2" flat brush
    • 1/4" flat brush
    • decorative paper
    • chalk pencil

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Use a ruler and pencil to draw a checkerboard design on sides of table, leaving space for a border around the edge.
    2. Paint alternating squares of the checkerboard design with Everlasting and Carbon, using a 1/2" flat brush.
    3. Paint the table legs and the trim with Heritage and a 1" flat brush.
    4. Paint a border on each side using Treasure and a 1/4" flat brush.
    5. Use a ruler to draw a design on the table top, leaving a 1-1/2" border around the edge. Trace a circular object such as a glass to get the circle shape in the center, then fill circle with checkboard pattern.
    6. Fill in remaining areas of tabletop design with other colors, referring to finished photo for placement.
    7. Use tracing paper to trace the shape of the table legs, taking care to trace 1/4" inside the edge so that the Heritage border will still be seen.
    8. Use traced pattern and transfer paper to transfer shape to decorative paper, then cut out with scissors.
    9. Attach decorative paper pieces to table legs using Decou-Page, following package instructions. Allow to dry completely.
    10. Distress table with sandpaper, taking care not to rip the decorative paper. Focus on the edges and painted areas to achieve a casual, aged look.
    11. If desired, coat entire table with Ultra-Matte Varnish to seal.
