    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Prime the canvas with a thin, even layer of White Gesso. Transfer the pattern onto the canvas using transfer paper and a stylus or pencil.
    2. Add a few drops of Yellow Green Light to White Tinting Base to make a matte hair and eyebrow color. Mix Burnt Sienna and Quinacridone Gold with White Tinting Base until the desired skin color is achieved. Use Quinacridone Gold with Cadmium Red Hue for the lips. Add more White Tinting Base and apply to the cheeks. Apply Dark Grey Value 3 to the eyes. Use a black ultra-fine permanent marker for the details on the eyes, adding eyelashes in last.
    3. Instruction #2
    4. Add a little background texture by placing a little White Modeling Paste in some areas. (Using an old credit or similar card works great for this.) Let dry. When it dries, add a few drops of Ultramarine Blue with some White Tinting Base to paint the background.
    5. Instruction #3
    6. Use an ultra-fine tip permanent marker to trace the lettering. (Make some areas thicker and thinner on the lettering.) Add small doodles and embellishments to the letters. (If preferred, use alphabetic stickers.) Refer to photo.
    7. Instruction #4
    8. Cut 1-1/2" x 6" strips of scrap cardboard or cardstock in coordinating colors. Trim one end to a point, then snip diagonally upwards towards the center to create a feathered look. Add scraps of gold paper punched out with a 1-1/2" circle punch.
    9. Instruction #5
    10. Transfer the wings onto a scrap piece of white paper using transfer paper. Cut out. Start towards the top, layering circles, only attaching adhesive on the tops of the circles.
    11. Instruction #6
    12. Skip the center and begin working on the other end of the wing. Layer the feathers on top of the previous layer. When you reach where the two layers meet, tuck them under the gold circles. Repeat for other wing and adhere them both onto the canvas using E6000.
