twine, jute, or string of choice (optional: add to hang)
small flat brush
glue (E6000 or hot glue)
wooden ring (any size)
3/4" flat brush
wine bottle corks (as many as needed for size- each flower takes 7)
INSTRUCTIONS
Gather the materials. You will need a wooden ring (any size) and wine bottle corks (bought or upcycled, as many as needed for size of wreath). Begin to plan out a design. TIP: Each flower takes seven corks, so plan accordingly. For the leaves of the flowers, cut the corks in half horizontally, as many as needed.
Begin to bring flowers together by applying glue on all sides of the middle cork. (You can use hot glue or E6000.) TIP: If using E6000 Glue, tape the shape together until dry.
Remove the tape. Paint the wooden ring with Bahama Blue using a 3/4" flat brush. Paint the tops of the cork flowers with Coral Shell and Scarlet using a small flat brush. Paint Citron Green onto the sliced corks in the shape of a leaf. Allow to dry. Apply second coats to the surfaces, if needed.
Using a green Sharpie marker, outline the leaf shapes to define the shape.
Glue the flowers and leaves to the wooden ring in your desired pattern. Allow to dry. (Optional: Add a colorful string, ribbon, or twine to the back of the wreath as a hanger.
This is a fun and simple craft project for adults or children. It is a great way to use upcycled materials to make a cute summer decoration.
