"Alice in Wonderland" Inspired Whimsical Vases

Take your inspiration from Alice in Wonderland or bees in flight but get your color from Americana® Gloss Enamels.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- painter's tape
- #6 flat brush
- #10 flat brush
- #8 round brush
- #5 round brush
- #12 flat brush
- 3/4" rake brush
- permanent marker
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Wonderland Vase
- Paint 1½” section of vase bottom Razzle Berry with ¾” rake brush.
- Using ¾” rake brush, paint Black and White stripes up vase.
- Paint ½”-wide borders on top and bottom of stripes using Antique Gold and #10 flat brush.
- Go over Antique Gold borders with two coats of Glorious Gold on #6 round brush.
- Leaving ½” border at very top, paint upper section Calypso Blue using ¾” rake brush.
- Paint 1¼”-wide Indian Turquoise diamonds around vase over Calypso Blue section using #10 flat brush.
- Using #6 flat brush, paint vase top Black.
- Outline Antique Gold sections and diamonds using #6 round brush and Black.
- With #6 round brush, draw “X” design inside bands of Antique Gold. Paint pattern of three Xs and one dot, repeating if desired.
- Paint ¼ circles where each diamond meets using #5 Round Brush and Black.
- Paint random ¼” Black polka dots in Razzle Berry section with #5 round brush.
- Using #5 round brush, fill in little circles with Razzle Berry and make tiny dots around bottom of Black band.
- Make loose checker pattern around top vase edge using #6 flat brush and White.
- Using #10 flat brush, randomly dry-brush Antique Gold on White stripes for aged effect.
- Make tiny White dots using #5 round brush around each outlined diamond.
- Busy Bee Vase
- Mask off middle section of vase (two strips wide) with painter’s tape.
- Using vertical lines on vase as guide, loosely draw diamond shapes, lines, and bee. (Or print off pattern and place inside vase.)
- Using #12 flat brush, paint alternating diamond shapes and stripes Black.
- Using #12 flat brush, paint remaining diamond shapes and stripes White.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5.
- Using #8 round brush and Foliage Green, add dots between lines and larger dots where diamonds intersect.
- Using #8 round brush, add Black dots around top White diamonds.
- Using #8 round brush, dot on flowers in Bright Orange and Razzle Berry and dot middles in Primary Yellow.
- Using #8 round brush, paint top in alternating squares White and Foliage Green and line in between, Black.
- Using #8 round brush, paint leaves in Foliage Green and dot middle with Black.
- Double-load #8 round brush with White and Primary Yellow to paint bee. Using #8 round brush, add details in Black.
