Cut eight boards of the same thickness into various widths and lengths to create a total area approximately 19” x 20”. (One board should be at 2-3/4” to accommodate the drawer knobs.) Cut two strips of wood 1/2" x 17". Sand all surface thoroughly.
Apply white to the front and sides of each wooden piece, allowing the wood grain to show through. Arrange the planks as desired, making sure the bottom piece is at least 2-3/4” in width.
Nail the two 1/2”x 17” strips on the back of the planks to secure them.
Print out the flowers and words pattern and cut out the elements with a craft knife. Save the letters and flower centers and put aside. Trim the design, leaving about a 1/2” halo.
Place the stencil as desired. Stencil in with blue, yellow, orange, and green as desired with a stencil brush. Add several dots to the center of each flower with a dimensional white writer. Let dry. Once dry, outline each element with a permanent marker.
Print off the butterfly pattern and adhere onto aluminum foil. Place onto a softer surface (such as a cutting mat) and trace the outlines of butterfly with ballpoint pen. Cut out with scissors.
Apply a coat of black antiquing cream to the butterflies with a soft brush.
Fold the butterfly wings up and nail each one to the sign with small nails.
Drill holes for the drawer knobs and insert into the lower plank.
