Painted Wedding Lantern

Light up an outdoor wedding with this lantern, decked out in Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • rubbing alcohol
    • #10 flat brush
    • #1 liner brush
    • pen
    • #1 round brush
    • wooden lantern

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Use paper towels and rubbing alcohol to clean the glass panels on the lantern.

    3. Print off the pattern to fit the lantern and place inside the lantern, facing out. Use a #10 flat brush to paint the banner in Night Sky. Add a small amount of Buff Beige to Night Sky and use mix to paint the back side of the banner. Rinse brush.

    5. Use a #1 liner brush and Inch Worm to paint on the long stems with leaves. Rinse brush.

    7. Use the #1 round brush to mix Poppy, Buff Beige, and Pink Tropics to make a bright coral color. Use the mix to paint a flower from the top and bottom. Rinse brush.

    9. Use a #1 round brush with Pink Cadillac to add another flower on the top and bottom. Rinse brush. Use the same brush with Ballerina to add the final flowers. Rinse brush.

    11. Use a #1 liner brush to make three separate mixes with Ballerina, Poppy, and Pink Tropics to make darker colors. Use the mixes to outline and detail on the flowers. (You can refer to the flower mixes and just make a darker version.) Rinse brush.

    13. Use a #1 liner brush and Brown Sugar, Cocoa Bean, and Buff Beige to paint on the flowers. Rinse brush. Use Cotton Ball with the same brush to paint feather quills and dots on one of the feathers.

    15. Use the #1 round brush and Inch Worm to paint on the leaves. Rinse brush. Use the same brush to outline with Cactus. Rinse brush.

    17. Use white transfer paper to trace and transfer the "Happily Ever After" word pattern onto the banner.

    19. Use a #10 flat brush to paint the entire wooden frame of the lantern with Cotton Ball. Rinse brush. Follow the label instructions for outdoor use.
