Americana Decor® Chalky Finish™ Paint

  • Relic (ADC28)
  • Serene (ADC18)

Americana Decor® Varnishes

  • Ultra-Matte Varnish (ADM04)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • white cloth
  • 3" chip brush
  • Murphy's® Oil Soap (optional)
  • nightstand (flea market find)

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Paint entire nightstand, including hardware, with Relic. Let dry.
  2. Dip 3" chip brush bristle tips into Serene. Drag brush lightly across surface from side to side creating soft, timeworn appearance. Repeat until all sides and top are painted.
  3. When dry, coat with Ultra-Matte Varnish. Let dry between coats.

Always clean flea market finds well before painting. Wipe with damp rag to remove dust, dirt, or sticky spots. If there is oily residue on wood, use warm water and Murphy’s® Oil Soap to clean. Rinse and dry immediately.

When applying Serene, light touch is needed. If the brush is overloaded, you will not achieve thin lines. Should this occur, drag the brush across a paper towel to remove excess paint.

If you find too much paint is deposited in some areas, wait for everything to dry. Go back over those areas, using same technique with basecoat color, Relic.
