Use Multi-Surface Acrylics to create a stained effect on a home décor piece.
SUPPLIES
- sandpaper
- soft cloth
- pencil
- small round brush
- large flat brush
- white transfer paper
- wooden sign
- cup hooks
- small flat brush
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- If needed, sand the sign for a smooth finish. (The smoother the wood is, the better staining effect you achieve.)
- Mix together brown and black to create a dark brown. Brush the mix onto one slat of the wooden sign at a time. Before the paint dries, wipe back the paint to reveal the wood grain. Repeat until the entire sign is covered.
- Transfer the provided pattern onto the sign. Using a flat and a round brush, paint in the pattern using an off-white. Use a dry-brush technique to get the sunrays to fade.
- Sand the sign surface lightly, concentrating on the text and sun painted white.
- Screw cup hooks as desired into the bottom of the sign to hang coffee cups.
