NOTES: Sand all wooden surfaces before starting. Allow paint to fully dry before continuing to the next step.
Paint each of the bugs in Gold (Metallic). Let dry.
Once the bugs have dried, use a stencil brush to dab them with Chocolate (Metallic). (This will add dimension to the bugs and highlight the texture in the surface of each bug.) Set the painted bugs aside to dry.
Lightly sand the edges of the wooden plaques to prepare them for painting. Brush off any excess dust or debris.
Paint the edge of each wooden plaque with Gold (Metallic).
Paint the flat surface of each wooden plaque with Cotton Ball.
Once the paint has dried, use the Americana Decor Distressed Harlequin stencil to create a pattern on the plaques. (You can also free-hand designs or use painter's tape to create a pattern.)
Use Black Tie to create the contrasting pattern with paint.
Once the paint has dried, attach a metal label holder to the bottom of each wooden plaque. Write or print out labels for each plaque to help identify the "specimen."
Glue the painted bugs to each of the wooden plaques.
HELPFUL HINTS
Display the bug displays with plate stands or attach picture hangers to the backs to hang on the wall.
