Upcycled Vintage Bookshelf

For storage or display, this vintage bookshelf comes alive with Vintage Effect Wash™.
SUPPLIES
- sandpaper
- ruler
- hammer
- clean cloth
- newspaper
- jigsaw
- table saw
- wood putty
- pin nail gun or nails
- old dresser
- 1/2" thick plywood
- 1"x 1/2" wood
- 1/4" plywood
INSTRUCTIONS
- Prep the surface of the dresser by removing any dirt or dust.
- To turn a small dresser into a bookshelf, remove the dresser drawers and drawer supports.
- Remove the dresser backboard.
- Use a sander or sandpaper to smooth the surfaces of the dresser pieces.
- Measure the distance for the shelves, both width and length. Cut the shelves out of the 1/2" thick plywood using a table saw.
- Cut supports for the sides under the shelves out of the 1" x 1/2" wood. Use a nail gun or hammer and nails to secure into place.
- Cut strips to fit the back of the dresser out of the 1/4" thick plywood. Paint them using White. Let dry.
- Attach the shelves using the nail gun or nails.
- Attach the Vintage Effects washed planks to the open back of the bookshelf using wood putty.
- Mix (2) parts Legacy with (1) part Primitive. Paint the bookshelf, and let dry. Seal with Clear Crème Wax.
- Let dry completely before use.
