Painted Veggie Garden Apron

Garden in style with colorful painted gardening aprons and their handy tool pockets.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • #2 round brush
    • #12 flat brush
    • #1 liner brush
    • iron and ironing board
    • pen
    • canvas apron

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Remove all tags from the apron. If the apron is too wrinkled, iron it smooth.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Use a #12 flat brush and load separately with Chartreuse, Dolphin, Night Sky, Orange Sherbet, Coastal Waters, and a 1:1 mix of Eggplant and Flamingo. Use Chartreuse for the background and between the pockets. Use all the colors and the mix to paint the pockets. Rinse brush before switching colors and at the end.

    5. Use a pen and the tracing and transfer papers to trace and transfer a veggie pattern onto each separate pocket.
    6. Use a #2 round brush to mix Orange Sherbet and Cotton Ball 1:1. Use the mix to fill in the carrots. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Vanilla Shake to paint in the onions. Rinse brush. Use the same brush to mix Red Barn and Flamingo 1:1 and use the mix to fill in the radishes. (Save this mix for a future step.) Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Turf Green to fill the pea pods. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Red Barn to fill in the tomatoes. Rinse brush.

    8. Use a #1 liner brush and Vanilla Shake to add lines to the carrots. Rinse brush.

    10. Use a #1 liner brush and double-load with Chartreuse and Turf Green to paint on the stems. Rinse brush.

    12. Use a #2 round brush and Cotton Ball to paint the inside of the onion. Rinse brush.

    14. Use a #1 liner brush and Dolphin to add the onion detail lines. Rinse brush.

    16. Use a #1 liner brush and Flamingo to add the detail lines to the radishes. Rinse brush.

    18. Use a #2 round brush and Turf Green to paint some of the stems and half of the leaves. (See photo for placement.) Rinse brush.

    20. Use the same brush and Chartreuse to paint the other half of the stems and leaves.

    22. Use the same brush with Chartreuse to paint the peas. Rinse brush.

    24. Use a #2 round brush and Night Sky to add highlights to the peas. Rinse brush.

    26. Use a #2 round brush and the mix from the radishes (step 4) to add highlights to the tomatoes. Rinse brush.

    28. Use a #1 liner brush and Turf Green to paint the stems on the tomatoes. Rinse brush.

    30. Once this apron has fully cured, it is ready to fill with gardening tools and supplies.
