Paint Dipped Champagne Glasses

Awhile ago, Jamie & I were contacted by Deco Art and asked to put together some fun projects for Valentine's Day using some of their products from their Americana line.  Naturally, we said YES and couldn't wait to get started.

We poured through their catalog, looking at all the cool stuff, trying to figure out how we could pack the most of their items into a post so you can see just how great everything is.  We looked at paints and pens and antique staining and on and on.  Over the next few days, we'll be sharing those projects with you and offering up the big reveal on Thursday that will show you how they all fit together.  We hope you enjoy what we've come up with!

Today's project is a really simple and fun little way to spice up your wine or champagne glasses.  A little bubbly is always a fun way to celebrate the day o'love with your special someone, and this paint dipped technique lets you do a little fun customization.

The Americana line has some great glass paint that we wanted to use for our champagne glasses.

You'll need:

- Gloss Enamel in baby pink
- champagne glasses
- small, flat paint brush
- painters tape
- water
- wax paper

We started by adding a little water to some of the paint in a cup, to thin out the consistency for dipping. Just dip the bottom of the glass in the paint and swirl it around for good, even coverage.  Carefully take the glass out of the paint.  Then you'll want to let the excess paint drip off slowly, by holding it at an angle and rolling it around between your fingers.  You can also gently tap it on the side of the dish with the paint to get the excess paint to drip off.  Once this is done, set your glasses on wax paper to dry.

When the bottoms were dry, we wanted to add a little something more to our glasses, so we wrapped painters tape around the top so we could create a straight line with the paint.  Then, using the small flat paint brush, you'll just make small strokes downward in varying lengths.  I liked the soft effect this gives the glass.

Let dry, add champagne and raspberries and you have a beautiful, elegant, and customized set of champagne glasses!

PS - that napkin you see in the picture is a hand painted napkin, also using the Americana paint line.  You'll get that tutorial this week as well!

Happy {almost} Valentine's Day!
