Add more even magic to a "magic wand" with DecoArt® Matte Metallics™.
SUPPLIES
- paper towels
- sandpaper
- hot glue gun
- X-Acto® knife
- wood stick
- small paintbrush
- finding
INSTRUCTIONS
- Using an X-Acto knife or sharp edge, carve some texture into the stick. (Or shave off some of the bark.)
- Sand any rough edges.
- To form the handle, wrap hot glue around the end of the wand. (Tip: keep rotating the stick until the glue has cooled.)
- Pick out a finding to attach to the end of the wand. (I used a snail shell, but it could be whatever you choose.)
- Glue the finding to the end of the wand. Allow to cool.
- Mix Moody Blue with Canyon Orange 1:1. Mix with water to have a wash and use to the entire surface of the wand.
- Paint on Canyon Orange to the entire surface, leaving some of the basecoat wash showing through.
- Paint a layer of Gold Enchanted. Allow to dry.
- On the raised areas of the handle, paint on Gold Matte Metallic. Allow to dry.
- Paint Lamp Black into the recessed areas of the want. Wipe back the paint with a paper towel to allow the metallic paint to show.
- For sparkly accents, paint on Clear Ice Comet.
- This is a fun craft for children and adults that can be customized to your tastes.
- Pair the wand with other magical crafts to create your very own customized décor.
- A great mixed media project!
