SoSoft® Fabric Paint

  • Bright Coral (DSS110)
  • Indian Turquoise (DSS79)
  • Red Pepper (DSS88)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • 3/4" oval brush
  • tea towel (2-white)
  • freezer paper (optional)
  • fabric glue (permanent)
  • mini pompom (white trim)
  • bowl
  • rubber bands
  • 10" white doily (2)

  1. Spread out freezer paper to protect the work surface, if needed.
    Step 0 Example
  2. Wet the tea towels and wring out the water. For the first towel, gather the center and bind tightly with a rubber band.
    Step 1 Example
  3. Place a second rubber band. (See photo.)
    Step 2 Example
  4. Continue to do this throughout the entire surface of the tea towel.
    Step 3 Example
  5. Mix Bright Coral with water in a bowl. (The more paint added, the brighter the color.)
    Step 4 Example
  6. Dab on the watered paint with an oval brush.
    Step 5 Example
  7. Mix Red Pepper with water and add that to the towel as well.
    Step 6 Example
  8. Mix Indian Turquoise with water and add to the tips of the gathered towel. Let partially dry.
    Step 7 Example
  9. When the towel is almost dry but still damp, remove the rubber bands.
    Step 8 Example
  10. Flatten or hang to dry the rest of the way.
    Step 9 Example
  11. For the second tea towel, wet and wring out. Flatten onto the work surface and add Indian Turquoise mixed with water to one end, using an oval brush.
    Step 10 Example
  12. Splatter some of the watered Indian Turquoise randomly on the towel for some variation.
    Step 11 Example
  13. Splatter some of the Bright Coral/water mix in the middle.
    Step 12 Example
  14. On the other end, paint on a mix of Red Pepper and water.
    Step 13 Example
  15. You will have something like this (see photo). You can leave to dry as is or continue with the next step.
    Step 14 Example
  16. Bunch up the towel end to end.
    Step 15 Example
  17. Wring out.
    Step 16 Example
  18. Unfold and flatten or hang to dry.
    Step 17 Example
  19. Wet the doilies and pompom trim with water and wring out.
    Step 18 Example
  20. For the first doily, dab the edges with a Indian Turquoise/water mix using a brush.
    Step 19 Example
  21. Continue with mixes of Bright Coral and water and Red Pepper and water.
    Step 20 Example
  22. For the second doily, start dabbing edge with watered Red Pepper, followed by watered Bright Coral, and finally by watered Indian Turquoise.
    Step 21 Example
  23. Dab the desired color onto pompom. (I used the Indian Turquoise/water mix blue for this one.)
    Step 22 Example
  24. I use the Red Pepper/water mix with a touch of the Bright Coral for the other trim. Let trim dry.
    Step 23 Example
  25. Once everything is completely dry, use permanent fabric glue to affix the doilies and trim.
    Step 24 Example
  26. Do the same with the other towel.
    Step 25 Example
  27. Allow to dry completely per bottle instructions.
    Step 26 Example

Another option is to sew on the doilies and pompom trim.
