Re-Purposed Old-Time Candy Dispenser

Give a candy dispenser a new life as craft room storage with Americana® Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • rubbing alcohol
    • sandpaper
    • screwdriver
    • old time candy dispenser

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Some steps may require several coats; allow to dry between.

    1. Remove the pane of glass from the candy dispenser and wipe everything down with rubbing alcohol.

    3. Paint the top and bottom panels in French Grey Blue. Remove the handle and the interior "floating" piece.

    5. Paint the back board in Plum.

    7. Paint the inner walls and additional internal wooden pieces in Cranberry Wine. Paint the internal "floating" wooden piece's back panel and wooden dowel in Plum and the additional wooden pieces in Cranberry Wine.

    9. Paint the left and right side panels and the topmost semi-curved piece in Williamsburg Blue.

    11. Paint the bottom edge of the frame and the slanted wooden piece at the opening in Blue Mist. Also paint the handle in Blue Mist and the attaching piece in Cranberry Wine.

    13. Use sandpaper to distress every piece. Once finished, wipe with a damp paper towel to remove dust. Assemble the pieces back together, re-attach the front pane, and use to store craft supplies or other small objects such as marbles.
