    • dresser

    • stencil brush

    • drawer knobs

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps, except where noted.

    1. Lightly sand any rough edges of the dresser. Thoroughly clean it with a damp paper towel to remove dirt and dust. Remove the knobs.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Attach decorative wooden flourishes to the center of each drawer using E6000 Glue.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Paint the entire dresser with a rough coat of Heirloom using a 2" flat brush, purposefully letting the original color show through. Paint over the entire wooden flourish.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Using a 2" flat brush, apply a heavy coat of Heirloom to one of the dresser drawers on all spots not painted in the previous step.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. (The heavy rough coat of Heirloom paint should remain wet for the next step. Do not let it dry before proceeding.)
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Apply a heavy and rough coat of Rustic to all spots where the heavy coat of Heirloom was not applied previously. (Refer to photo.)
    12. Instruction #6
    13. Using the same brush, begin blending the two shades together using long brush-strokes, purposefully leaving some areas darker and some areas lighter until you are happy with the look.
    14. Instruction #7
    15. Repeat the above steps for the rest of the dresser drawers, as well as each side of the dresser, the top, and the dresser frame. (Do each section separately to make it easier to keep the paint wet as you work.) Let everything dry.
    16. Instruction #8
    17. Paint the wooden flourishes to match the chosen knobs. (Shown: The wooden flourishes were painted with a coat of Carbon.) Let dry. Once dry, use a stencil brush to dry-brush Raw Umber onto the flourishes. Alternate between Carbon and Raw Umber with a stencil brush until an oil-rubbed bronze look is achieved. Re-attach the knobs to the dresser. Let dry.
    18. Instruction #9
    19. After the paint has dried, apply Soft-Touch Varnish to all surfaces. Allow to dry.
