Here's a painted tray that will give your Thanksgiving guests something sweet to be thankful for.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- sandpaper
- pencil
- 1" flat brush
- #2 round brush
- 1/4" flat brush
- tracing & transfer paper
- wooden tray with handles
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Paint the entire tray with Graphite and the 1" flat brush.
- Transfer the oval part of the pattern onto the face of the tray with tracing and transfer paper.
- Fill in the oval with Hauser Light Green and the 1" flat brush.
- Paint a 1/4" band around the Hauser Light Green oval with a mixture of 6 parts Cranberry Wine and 1 part Snow White. Use the #2 round brush.
- Transfer the rest of the pattern onto the oval with the pencil and transfer and tracing paper.
- Fill in the colors as you see in the picture using the #2 round brush. While all of the colors are still wet, add a tiny bit of Snow White to the brush and highlight each color a little to give definition. (For example, paint the circle and H and K Cranberry Wine. Without washing the brush, add a tiny bit of Snow White and add a highlight to the letters. Continue this method for the rest of the pattern sections.)
- Using the 1/4" flat brush, and a 1:1 mixture of Graphite and Snow White, make a checkerboard pattern around the edge of the tray.
- Create a 1:1 mixture of Hauser Light Green and Snow White and make random polka dots with the #2 round brush, varying the dot sizes.
- Outline the oval, pie, silverware, and letters with Graphite and the #2 liner brush.
- Distress the edges of the tray and the Graphite-painted areas slightly with sandpaper.
