Vase for A Favorite Teacher

Create this colorful and thoughtful teacher's gift for the new school year.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- rubbing alcohol
- 1" flat brush
- #5 round brush
- scrap pieces of newspaper
- dish soap
- #1 round brush
- glass vase
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Wash the glass vase with soap and water and let dry. Brush the entire outside surface of vase with rubbing alcohol and wipe to dry.
- Using a 1" flat paintbrush, paint a Black rectangle on two sides of the vase. (See photo.) Allow to dry.
- Using a #5 round brush, paint a True Red apple shape on the opposite two sides of the vase. (See photo.) Allow to dry.
- Apply two additional coats of Black to the rectangle, allowing to dry between coats. (A hairdryer, set on low, can be used to speed up the process, if needed.)
- Apply two additional coats of True Red to the apple, allowing to dry between coats. (A hairdryer, set on low, can be used to speed up the process, if needed.)
- Using a #5 round brush, paint a Dark Chocolate frame around the Black rectangle, using three coats and allowing to dry thoroughly after each coat.
- Using a #5 round brush, paint a Festive Green leaf at the top of each apple.
- Using a #5 round brush, paint a Dark Chocolate stem on the top of each apple
- Using a #1 round brush, paint a White stick-figure boy and girl onto each blackboard along with "123" and "ABC" above each stick figure.
- Using #a 1 round brush, paint a small True Red apple in one hand of each stick figure.
- Using a #1 round brush and White, paint "A Teacher" and the teacher's name inside the apple.
