    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Use the palette knife and the White Modeling Paste to create texture around the edge of the canvas face. Keep adding paste until you are pleased with the amount of texture. Allow to dry.
    2. Lay the Kaleidoscope Accent Stencil on the canvas in a couple of places and use the Modeling Paste and the palette knife to stencil the circles onto the canvas. (Avoid the center where the girl will be.)
    3. With the 1" flat brush, paint the canvas front with Green Gold on a very wet brush. While brush is still wet, add a tiny touch of Pyrrole Red and brush around the edge of the canvas face on top of the Modeling Paste. Wash the brush, get a little watered down Cobalt Teal, and brush it around the Pyrrole Red and Green Gold areas.
    4. Wash and dry the Kaleidoscope Stencil and use it again. This time use the Crackle Paste and the palette knife and again avoid the area where the girl will be. (I just did it on the lower left of the canvas face.)
    5. Make a 1:4 mixture of Pyrrole Red and Texture Sand Paste and stir with the palette knife. Use the numbers 2 and 3 from the Timeless Treasures Stencil to stencil onto the canvas. (I placed them randomly near the girl's head. Avoid where she will be placed.)
    6. Use straight Pyrrole Red and the palette knife to add bright color to the edge of the canvas face just in the areas where there is Texture Sand Paste. After the Pyrrole Red is dry, do the same with Cobalt Teal.
    7. Find a vintage photo on the Internet or in your own collection. Enlarge it to the desired size and print it backwards. Cut out the girl (or subject of your photo) and brush the Matte Medium on the front of the picture. Lay the picture where you want it on the canvas and follow directions on bottle for drying time.
    8. To remove excess paper from the transfer, wet your finger and rub gently. (You can also use a damp sponge, but as soon as you see the photo start to get distressed, stop wiping.) When you have removed all of the excess paper, coat with a layer of Matte Medium while the transfer is still wet.
    9. Use the Kaleidoscope Stencil and the cosmetic sponge to stencil about four circular patterns onto the canvas. Use Green Gold to apply a couple more stencils. Apply them without an excess of paint so they are very light. If you want to make one appear to be behind the subject of your photo, just avoid the image or cut out a piece of tracing paper to lay over the area you want to avoid.
