Paint a lovely summer scene with Americana Premium Tube Acrylics!

SUPPLIES

    • palette knife
    • 12x24 canvas
    • palette paper and 1 inch brush.

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Begin by applying a thin layer over the entire canvas of Premium Acrylics Dioxazine Purple and Primary Magenta with your paint brush.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Using your palette knife, apply and work with Quinacridone Violet, Diozaine Purple, Primary Magenta and Titanium White. Apply Titanium White the heaviest down the center of your canvas. This is to give the appearance of light hitting your flower bed.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. As your canvas dries practice on your palette paper creating stems and flowers using your palette knife. When making the large purple flowers mix in Texture Medium with the Dioxazine Purple to make your flowers pop on the canvas. Use the edge of your knife to create thin lines for your stems. The flat tip of your knife creates a wonderful petal when applied at different angles.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Once you are comfortable begin applying Phthalo Green-Yellow and Sap Green. Using the edge of your palette knife begin at the bottom of your canvas and make your main stem. From there you will make several stems branching off of that. This will be your "in focus" flowers. To create the rest of the flower bed apply a mix of Violet, Purple and Magenta.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. To give the flowers a finished look apply Phthalo Blue in the center of the large flowers. This gives a look of the sky reflecting in the dew. For the the smaller flowers use Cadmium Yellow Hue and Titanium White for the center. Don't forget to give small faded stems to your background flowers.
