Painted Succulent Geometric Pot

SUPPLIES

Americana® Acrylics

  • Hauser Light Green (DA131)
  • Hauser Medium Green (DA132)
  • Lemonade (DA252)
  • Pansy Lavender (DA154)
  • Red Violet (DA140)
  • Turquoise Blue (DA268)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • #10 flat brush
  • masking tape (or quilter's tape; 1/4")
  • terra cotta pot (3-1/2" or size of choice)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Make sure the terra cotta pot is clean and dust free.

  2. Place quilter's or thin masking tape at the top of the pot at an angle and overlap. Tear off. Repeat until you have a full geometric pattern over the entire pot. (Refer to photo.)

  3. Use a #10 flat brush and Turquoise Blue to fill in about two sections.
    Step 2 Example
  4. Use the same brush without rinsing to mix (1) part Turquoise Blue with (1) part Hauser Medium Green. Use the mix and the same brush to fill in two more sections. Rinse brush.

  5. Use the #10 flat brush and Hauser Light Green to paint two more sections. Rinse brush.

  6. Use the same brush to paint a few more sections Pansy Lavender. Rinse brush.
    Step 5 Example
  7. Use the #10 flat brush to paint a few sections with Lemonade. Rinse brush.
    Step 6 Example
  8. Use the #10 flat brush and Red Violet to paint a few sections. Rinse brush.
    Step 7 Example
  9. Use the same brush to paint a few sections with Snow White. Rinse brush. (If you have any more sections, use colors of choice to finish.) Let dry completely.

  10. Remove the quilter's tape to reveal the raw terra cotta.

  11. Use the #10 flat brush and Lemonade to paint the inside of the pot. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.

  12. Place a real or fake succulent inside the pot.
