Create a modern take on a fruit still life with Americana® Premium™ Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • pencil
    • 10" x 10" canvas
    • large palette knife
    • paintbrushes

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Sketch the pear onto the canvas, using the provided pattern if necessary.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Mix 80% Clear Modeling Paste with 20% Warm Grey. Using a palette knife, spread the paste mix around and inside the pear, following the natural shape of the pear. Use a hatched or criss-cross pattern for the foreground. (See photo.)

    5. Fill in the pear with Cadmium Yellow Hue.

    7. Paint the background with Warm Grey and light strokes of Prussian Blue Hue and Quinacridone Magenta. Mix (1) part Warm Grey with (1) part Titanium White and use to paint the foreground. Add a very small drop of Prussian Blue Hue to the mix to create the shadow of the pear. Use Titanium White and Hansa Yellow Light to highlight the pear on the right. Use Pyrrole Red, Cobalt Turquoise Hue, and Prussian Blue Hue to shade the pear on the left.
