Small Pastel Striped Side Chair

A standard side chair can take on new life as a pastel striped accent.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • ruler
    • wooden chair
    • 1" flat brush
    • paraffin
    • fine-grit sandpaper
    • 1/2" flat brush
    • 1" painter's tape

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Clean the chair with a damp paper towel.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Paint the entire chair with Legacy using the 1" flat brush.

    5. Rub paraffin wax over the areas of the chair that you would like to remain Legacy.
    6. Paint the seat, back, and all but four of the spindles with Remembrance using the 1" flat brush.
    7. Put painter's tape on the areas where you would like to make the stripes. Paint the back center spindles and the front spindle with New Life using the 1/2" flat brush. Measure 2" up on the legs with the ruler and tape off the area with 1" painter's tape. Paint the 2" tips of the legs with New Life using the 1" flat brush. Remove all of the tape.

    9. Sand with fine-grit sandpaper. Be sure to sand the areas that have the paraffin on them.
    10. Apply tape next to the remaining Legacy areas so you can make light lavender stripes. Mix (2) parts Remembrance with (1) part Everlasting. Fill in the stripes with the 1/2" flat brush and the mixture. Remove the tape.
    11. Sand the lighter lavender areas.
