Americana® Gloss Enamels™

  • Sand (DAG04)
  • True Blue (DAG36)
  • Tuscan Red (DAG265)
  • White (DAG01)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • 3/4" flat brush
  • #0 liner brush
  • #12 flat brush
  • cosmetic sponge
  • craft knife (or razor blade)
  • glass quart jar
  • chicken feeder base (found at farm supply stores)
  • 1" and 1/4" painter's tape
  • star stencil (optional)

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Wash the jar in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry well before painting.
  2. Tape off three stripes on the jar with painter's tape as desired.
  3. Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the top stripe, True Blue; the middle stripe, Sand; and the bottom stripe, Tuscan Red. Repeat the paint application, if needed.
  4. Run a craft knife around the tape edges and remove the tape.
  5. Stencil or paint White stars around the True Blue stripe.
  6. Use a liner brush and White to paint the lettering.
  7. Use the handle end of a paintbrush to dot under the top stripe with True Blue and under the middle stripe with Sand.
  8. Paint the feeder base top True Blue.
  9. Allow the jar to air dry or follow paint label instructions for baking.

When painting taped-off areas on glass, it is a good idea to run a craft knife or razor blade around the tape edges before removing the tape. This avoids ragged edges and lifting paint.
