Stars & Stripes Snack Jar

Your little chicks will love getting summer snacks from this converted jar and chicken feeder-lid.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • #0 liner brush
    • #12 flat brush
    • cosmetic sponge
    • craft knife
    • glass quart jar
    • chicken feeder base
    • 1" and 1/4" painter's tape
    • star stencil

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Wash the jar in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry well before painting.
    2. Tape off three stripes on the jar with painter's tape as desired.
    3. Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the top stripe, True Blue; the middle stripe, Sand; and the bottom stripe, Tuscan Red. Repeat the paint application, if needed.
    4. Run a craft knife around the tape edges and remove the tape.
    5. Stencil or paint White stars around the True Blue stripe.
    6. Use a liner brush and White to paint the lettering.
    7. Use the handle end of a paintbrush to dot under the top stripe with True Blue and under the middle stripe with Sand.
    8. Paint the feeder base top True Blue.
    9. Allow the jar to air dry or follow paint label instructions for baking.
