Posted by DecoArt on Feb 20th 2015
A wooden crate painted in the colors of spring makes a one-of-a-kind planter.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- pencil
- 3/4" flat brush
- #8 round brush
- grey transfer paper
- small wooden crate
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Using a 3/4" flat brush, paint the inside of the crate Marigold. Rinse brush. Paint the outside of the crate Cloud White. Trace the pattern onto the crate using a pencil and grey transfer paper. Use a #8 round brush to paint the flower pots Petunia Purple, Sweet Pea, and Azalea. (I added just a touch of Cloud White to the Petunia Purple.)
- Mix lighter colors of Petunia Purple, Sweet Pea, and Azalea by mixing each separately 1:1 with Cloud White. Using a #8 round brush, paint polka dots and the pot rims with the lightened Petunia Purple, Sweet Pea, and Azalea. (Refer to photo for color placement.)
- Using the same colors from the previous step, paint the flowers with a #8 round brush. (Refer to photo.) Rinse brush. Add dots to the middle of the flowers in Marigold and Azalea.
- Using a #8 round brush, randomly paint small accents lines in Marigold throughout the crate, including the sides and back.
- Mix Cloud White and Wrought Iron Black 1:1. Using a #8 round brush, outline the pots and flowers.
