NOTES: Protect the work surface prior to painting as the paint will bleed through the burlap. Let dry completely between painting steps.
Paint the white pre-stiffened felt in a gingham pattern in Delicate: Using a 1" flat brush, paint the vertical lines approximately 1" apart and the horizontal lines approximately 1" apart. Cut a strip of balsa wood into (2) 14" long pieces. Paint in Delicate.
Cut the burlap into an approximately 9" x 6" rectangle. Trace the bird pattern onto the burlap using a fine-point permanent marker.
Fill in the bird with Treasure. Paint the beak in Inheritance. Outline the bird's wing and paint its eye in Relic. Paint the branches in Rustic and the leaves in Fortune.
Hot glue the balsa wood sticks to the top and bottom of the stiffened felt. Hot glue the painted burlap to the center of the stiffened felt.
Cut (2) pieces of decorative ribbon to the desired length. Wrap them around the ends of the balsa wood stick at the top of the stiffened felt and hot glue them to the stick. (Refer to photo.)
Bring the two pieces of ribbon together and tie into a knot or a bow at the top.
Using the needle and thread, tie some pompons together and then to one side of the balsa wood stick.
