Spray Mister Canvas

Spray Mister Canvas

Hi it’s Katy with a fun, inky, messy tutorial using the DecoArt Media Permanent Misters!

When I first got hold of the Misters I wasn’t very excited about them – I already had spray inks, lots and lots of them – but when I started to explore these Permanent Misters I was instantly hooked! The big advantage with these is that (as the name would suggest!) they are permanent once dry. This means that you can layer colours over each other and not reactivate the colour underneath. The sprays are a little translucent so you’ll get some variations in colour tone where they layer up, but you won’t get a big pile of brown mud like you might if you tried this technique with ink-based misters.

My canvas is really simple and easy to do (you could even do this with a child in the school holidays). The only ‘tool’ you need is a drinking straw and the only technique you need is to be able to blow through said straw! I’ll guide you through the steps in my video. The only thing to note is that you really need to dry each layer before laying down the next – otherwise you really can’t go wrong. The result is a pretty explosion of colour that makes me smile! It’s definitely a happy canvas.
