Snowmen Love 2020 Wood Slice Ornament

SUPPLIES

Americana® Acrylics

  • Jack-O'-Lantern Orange (DA229)
  • Lamp (Ebony) Black (DAO67)
  • Santa Red (DA170)
  • Snow (Titanium) White (DAO1)
  • Turquoise Blue (DA268)

Other supplies

  • water container
  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • tracing paper
  • transfer paper
  • chalk pencil
  • #4 round brush
  • #0 liner brush
  • #12 flat brush
  • twine, jute, or string of choice
  • wood slices
  • glue gun and glue sticks
  • unfinished wooden hearts (2)
  • 1/2" stencil brush
  • small screw eye

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Trace and transfer the head outlines only onto the wood slice.

  2. Use a #12 flat brush and Turquoise Blue for the center section and Snow White for the heads. Let dry.

  3. When dry, transfer the faces onto the snowmen. (See photo.)

  4. Use a #4 round brush to paint the carrot noses Jack-O'-Lantern Orange. While wet, blend a small amount of Santa Red onto the undersides of the nose and a small amount of Snow White on top as a highlight. (See photo.)

  5. Use a #4 round brush and Lamp Black to paint the eyes and mouths.

  6. Use a liner brush and Snow White to paint highlights on the eyes. Use the handle end of a brush and Snow White to paint dots in the eyes.

  7. Use a liner brush and Snow White to paint snowflakes.

  8. Paint two wooden hearts with Santa Red. Use a chalk pencil to add names and/or a date to the hearts.

  9. Use the liner brush and Snow White to personalize the hearts. Attach the screw eye to the bottom of the ornament.

  10. Use a stencil brush to swirl a very small amount of Snow White mixed with a dot of Santa Red to blush the cheeks.

  11. Thread a small piece of twine through the screw eye. Adhere the twine ends to the back of one of the hearts with hot glue. Position the second heart on top of the first. Adhere the hearts together so the twine is between them.

  12. Add a loop of twine to the ornament top.
