Snowman & Deer Hoop Ornaments

Embroidery hoops frame seasonal symbols in these colorful and sparkling holiday ornaments.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • scissors
    • ruler
    • pencil
    • #3 round brush
    • #2 round brush
    • liner brush
    • wax paper
    • fabric of choice
    • craft glue
    • hot glue gun and glue sticks
    • light blue gems
    • embellishment of choice (pinecones and artificial greenery)
    • ribbon
    • wooden embroidery hoops
    • mini pompom

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry between coats.

    1. SNOWMAN ORNAMENT: Using a #3 round brush, paint an embroidery hoop Snow White.
    2. Using a pencil, draw the snowman onto fabric of your choice.
    3. Using a #3 round brush, paint snow: Start on top with a line of Baby Blue and, while still wet, add Snow White, blending towards the bottom.
    4. Using a #3 round brush, paint the snowman Snow White.
    5. Using a #3 round brush, add accents: cheeks in Bubblegum Pink (with a just touch of Snow White); nose in Jack-O’-Lantern Orange; and hat in Snow White and Baby Blue.
    6. Using a liner brush, paint the tree branch arms and eyes Graphite.
    7. Glue a light blue mini pompom on the end of the hat.
    8. Glue two light blue gems on the body.
    9. Tie ribbon of choice into a knot to make a scarf and glue in place.
    10. Place the painted fabric into the embroidery hoop.
    11. Glue ribbon of your choice around the perimeter. Make a bow, tie it around top of the hoop, and knot the end as a loop for hanging.
    12. REINDEER HOOP ORNAMENT: Use a pencil and ruler to measure a 6” square onto fabric of your choice.
    13. Use scissors to cut out the square.
    14. Place a sheet of wax or freezer paper under the fabric.
    15. Use a pencil with the tracing and transfer papers to trace the reindeer pattern onto fabric.
    16. Use a #2 round brush to basecoat the reindeer head Spicy Mustard. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.
    17. Use the handle end of brush dipped in Burgundy Wine to make a reindeer nose. Wipe off the handle. Let dry completely.
    18. Use a #2 round brush and Gold Glitz to go over the Spicy Mustard. Rinse brush.
    19. Use the handle end of a brush dipped in Sizzling Red to glitter the reindeer's nose. Wipe off the handle. Let completely dry.
    20. Connect the fabric in the hoop, lock, and secure.
    21. Use scissors to cut the excess fabric off from the back.
    22. Use scissors to cut ⅜” ribbon to wrap around the hoop and glue on.
    23. Use a glue gun to add greenery and pinecone embellishments to the front of the hoop.
    24. Cut out a piece of ⅞” ribbon for a bow and to hang the ornament.
