Using the provided building plans, build the shutters.
Using a large flat brush, paint the shutters a desired color. (Shown: Heritage)
Distress the shutters with either a power sander or by hand with a sheet of sandpaper. (A hand sander will provide quicker results and a more intense look.)
Glaze the shutters with the desired glaze using a wax. (You can use either Americana Decor Clear and a brown Crème Wax or a Home Depot glaze. If using Americana Crème Wax, apply a coat of Clear Crème Wax, allow to dry, and then apply a Crème Wax in Deep or Golden Brown.)
