INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Using a 1" flat brush, coat the surface of the lid in Americana Paper Decou-Page. Position the Americana Decou-Page Paper (shown: Olde Worlde) on the lid and smooth out to remove any wrinkles or bubbles. Apply another layer of Decou-Page on the surface of the paper.
  2. Coat the surface of the bottom of the box in Paper Decou-Page. Position Decou-Page Paper (shown: Vintage Silhouette) and smooth out to remove any wrinkles or bubbles. Apply another layer of Decou-Page on the surface of the paper.
  3. Add a little water to create a wash with Burnt Umber. Apply the wash with a 1" flat brush to the top and bottom of the box.
  4. Paint the inside of the box with a 1" flat brush and Carbon Black. Using the same color and brush, paint the outside rim of the lid.
  5. Using 1" painter's tape, tape off stripes on the bottom of the box. Paint the bottom of the box in Carbon Black. Peel off the tape when the paint is still wet.
  6. Position the crown from the Americana Brim & Crown Stencil in the desired location. Stencil using a cosmetic sponge in Carbon Black.
  7. Mix a 5:1 ratio of Texture Sand Paste and Carbon Black using a palette knife. Apply a thin coat of the mix to the rim of the lid using a palette knife. Apply the same mix to the top of the lid to create a rough border.
