Reversible Witch and Elf Shoes Door Décor

SUPPLIES

Patio Paint Outdoor™

  • Citrus Green (DCP25)
  • Cloud White (DCP14)
  • Geranium Red (DCP07)
  • Petunia Purple (DCP29)
  • Pumpkin (DCP52)
  • Wrought Iron Black (DCP21)

Other supplies

  • sandpaper
  • 1" flat brush
  • 1/2" angle brush
  • assorted ribbon
  • cardstock
  • Silhouette electronic cutting machine (Silhouette America)
  • drill and small drill bit
  • jigsaw (or scroll saw)
  • plywood (1/2" thick)
  • #3 flat brush
  • craft wire (and wire cutters)

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Using the Silhouette file and electronic cutting machine, cut out the provided patterns. Once cut out, trace two boots and one pair of socks onto 1/2" thick plywood. Cut out using a jigsaw or scroll saw.

  2. Sand all edges until smooth. Wipe away any dust using a paper towel.

  3. Paint both sides of all wooden pieces in Wrought Iron Black with a 1" flat brush.

  4. Using the provided circle template in the Silhouette file, trace circles onto the front and back of each boot.

  5. Randomly paint the circles in Pumpkin.

  6. Paint some circles in Petunia Purple.
    Step 5 Example
  7. Paint the remaining circles in Citrus Green.

  8. Tape off the socks as desired.

  9. Paint stripes in Citrus Green. While paint is still wet, remove tape. Once dried, flip over and repeat with Geranium Red.

  10. Once the boot is completely dried, turn over and repeat with the elf side of the boot. First, paint random circles in Geranium Red.

  11. Randomly paint the remaining circles in Cloud White and Citrus Green.

  12. Once dried, flip over and hand paint a thin Cloud White line around each circle on the witch side. Leave the elf side as is.

  13. Mix some Cloud White and Wrought Iron Black together to get a streaky grey color. Carefully paint a broken line around the outer edge of the boot. Using only Wrought Iron Black, repeat line work on socks. Loosely freehand a buckle on the boots.

  14. Once dried, flip over and repeat line work with Cloud White. Use Wrought Iron Black on socks.

  15. Drill holes to connect each boot to the socks.

  16. Run wire through holes and twist together.

  17. Cover wire by typing a ribbon bow on top of each wire. Repeat on elf side in coordinating color. Be sure to use a color that won't interfere if seen from the reverse side.

  18. Drill two holes on the top of the socks. Attach a wire so that you have two loops coming up.One is to hang and the other to attach the bow.

  19. Attach and detach bow when changing for seasons.
