Colorful Recycled Hanging Planters

Turn plastic into fantastic with these planters made from plastic containers and Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.
SUPPLIES
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- paper towels
- #4 flat brush
- craft knife
- #1 round brush
- twine
- container
- awl
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Allow paint to dry fully before continuing on to the next step.
- Be sure to thoroughly clean the surface of each container.
- To make a water bottle planter, use a craft knife to cut off the rounded top.
- Using a #4 flat brush, paint the water bottle in Soft Jade and the cookie tin in Orange Sherbet.
- Use a #1 round brush to paint on a flower pattern onto the cookie tin in Poppy. Paint on the leaves in Soft Jade. On the water bottle, paint Inch Worm in vertical and horizontal lines. (Refer to photo.)
- Use a #1 round brush and Black Tie to outline the flower petals and leaves on the cookie tin. Add a line part of the way through the leaves and add dots to the centers of the flowers.
- Use an awl to punch 1/8" holes across from each other on the tops of the containers. Also punch holes in the bottom of the container for drainage.
- Cut a 3' piece of twine and tie the ends through the punch holes.
- Plant a flower or succulent in the container and hang.
