SUPPLIES

• water container
• palette or plastic plate
• paper towels
• tracing paper
• transfer paper
• sandpaper
• toothpicks
• #4 flat shader brush
• #0 spotter brush
• 1/2" wash/glaze brush
• stylus or ballpoint pen
• black ultra-fine felt tip pen
• #2 flat shader brush
• #1 flat shader brush
• wooden candy box

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Allow paint to dry between colors, coats, and steps.

1. Sand the box smooth with 150-grit sandpaper and remove any dust with a damp paper towel.
2. Copy the pattern onto tracing paper. Using a stylus or ballpoint pen, transfer the pattern to the front of the box with graphite transfer paper underneath.
3. Paint the sky Baby Blue; outside of box and raccoon’s scarf, Baby Pink; inside of box, and airplane’s wheel, stripe, and wing, Cadmium Yellow; airplane body and propeller, Peony Pink; raccoon’s eyes, muzzle, and top of eye patches, and smoke, Snow White; raccoon’s body, 1:1 mix of Asphaltum and Snow White; and raccoon’s arm, eye patches, tail stripes, and inside of ears, Lamp Black.
4. Dip the end of a toothpick into Lamp Black and dot in the eyes.
5. Dip the handle end of a small paintbrush in Lamp Black and dot in the nose.
6. Using a black marker, outline the raccoon, airplane, smoke, and heart. (See photo.)
