Spooky Pumpkin and Bat Mason Jar Set

Canning jars, decorated with a pumpkin and bat, are the perfect way to stash Halloween candy

SUPPLIES

    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • scissors
    • pencil
    • Mason jars
    • #8 round brush
    • #8 flat brush
    • craft glue
    • scrapbook paper with Halloween theme
    • twine or hemp
    • cardstock
    • embellishments - buttons, faux gem stones
    • cosmetic sponges

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. PUMPKIN MASON JAR: Starting at the bottom of the jar, use a cosmetic sponge to dab Orange Frost all the way around the jar about 1/3 of the way up. Use a new cosmetic sponge and dab on Yellow Frost slightly overlapping the Orange Frost and going about 2/3 of the way up. Use a new cosmetic sponge and continue dabbing Yellow Frost all the way up to the top of the jar.

    3. Trace the pumpkin pattern onto orange scrapbook paper and cardstock (stacked as you are only tracing once). Cut them out and glue them together with a #8 flat brush and Americana Satin Decou-page. Repeat the same step with the crown using green scrapbook paper.
    4. Using a #8 flat brush, adhere the crown and pumpkin together with Decou-Page. (Refer to photo for placement.) Draw the face and outline it using Black Glass Paint Marker. Add embellishments with white craft glue. Use a pencil to poke a tiny hole on crown.
    5. Cut a strip of black and white scrapbook paper slightly narrower than the jar lid and adhere it to the lid with craft glue. Trace the lid onto scrapbook paper, cut out, and glue it on the lid.
    6. Tie a thin piece of twine a couple times around the neck of the jar and tie on the pumpkin.
    7. BAT MASON JAR: Use a cosmetic sponge to dab on two coats of Black Gloss; let dry between coats.

    9. Using a #8 round brush, dot on Razzle Berry.
    10. Trace the bat pattern onto the black and white scrapbook paper and cardstock (stacked as you are only tracing once). Cut them out and glue them together with a #8 flat brush and Decou-Page. Repeat the same step with the wings using a different design of black and white scrapbook paper. Repeat the same step with the hat using grey scrapbook paper and orange scrapbook paper for the band.
    11. Using a #8 flat brush, attach the bat, wings, and hat together with Decou-Page. (Refer to photo for placement.) Draw the face and outline using a White Glass Paint Marker. Add embellishments with white craft glue. Use a pencil to poke a tiny hole on hat.
    12. Cut a strip of black and white scrapbook paper slightly narrower than the lid and adhere it to the lid with craft glue. Trace the lid onto scrapbook paper and glue it on.
    13. Tie a thin piece of twine a couple times around the neck of the jar and tie on the bat.
