SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • rubbing alcohol
    • scissors
    • soft cloth
    • X-Acto® knife
    • painter's or masking tape
    • clear glass vase
    • rubout stick or toothpicks
    • dish soap
    • #1 script liner brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Clean the glass vase with dish soap and water; rinse with clean, hot water. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Or, clean surface with rubbing alcohol.
    2. Enlarge or reduce the pattern to fit the vase surface.
    3. Cut off excess paper from around pattern. (If working on a curved surface, cut slits into pattern so it will mold better to the surface.) Tape the pattern inside the glass vase with painter's or masking tape.
    4. With a #1 script brush, fill in the solid areas with thin lines of color as indicated on pattern. Paint these lines in at the same angle as long feather lines on the outside. Scoop up lots of paint on the tip of the brush in order to get better coverage. Allow paint to almost flow off the brush.
    5. Wipe off any large mistakes with a wet towel. To fix small mistakes, use a rubout stick or wet toothpick. If paint is dry, use X-Acto knife to gently scrape off the problem area.
    6. Allow to dry 48 hours. Bake 30 minutes at 200 degrees in non-preheated oven. Allow the vase to cool in oven with door open.
