  • Sunshine Yellow (DCP06)

Other supplies

  • ruler
  • damp rag
  • 1" painter's tape
  • small liner brush
  • concrete stepping-stone
  • colored chalk
  • stiff bristle brush
  • medium flat brush
  • stir sticks

NOTE: Start by making sure the stone is as clean as possible. Brush any loose particles off the stepping stone by wiping off with a damp rag. Make sure the stone is dry before you begin your project. For size reference, the stepping stone in this project measures 11 3/4" squared.

  1. Use a ruler and chalk to measure and mark the stone in a 16 block grid.
    Step 0 Example
  2. Continue to use the ruler and chalk to make diagonal lines, following the pattern provided.
    Step 1 Example
  3. Once all lines are drawn, use chalk in the corresponding color to your paint to draw a Y for yellow on the all sections to be painted yellow, a G for green, and a B for blue until all sections have a letter representing a color.
    Step 2 Example
  4. Use tape to mask off around all sections to be painted blue. Paint with blue paint using a medium flat brush. Let dry. Add a second coat of blue paint and let dry. Romove tape.
    Step 3 Example
  5. Repeat previous step for the yellow sections. Apply 2-3 coats of paint, let paint dry between coats. Remove tape.
    Step 4 Example
  6. For green, thoroughly mix 50% Sunshine Yellow and 50% Summer Sky Blue together. Stir with a stir stick (optional) or a paint brush to blend. Optional: you may wish to paint the sides of your stepping stone with green so be sure to mix enough paint. A stiff bristle brush can be used to apply paint to sides of stone.
    Step 5 Example
  7. Mask off around the sections to be painted green. Paint 2 coats of paint. Let paint dry between coats. Remove tape.
    Step 6 Example
  8. Use small liner brush to fix any lines where paint bled under tape's edge.
    Step 7 Example
  9. DecoArt Patio Paint Outdoor is weather-proof, so no sealer is required for a durable, long-lasting, satin finish.
    Step 8 Example
  10. Follow the same instructions using the additional patterns provided to create a set of three artful stones for your garden path.
