  • Sapphire (DPM17)
  • Sterling Silver (DPM07)

Primers, Sealers, and Finishes

  • DuraClear® Satin Varnish (DS21)

Other supplies

  • palette or plastic plate
  • paper towels
  • sandpaper
  • 1/2" flat brush
  • 1" painter's tape (optional)
  • wooden bench (WalMart)

  1. Remove the rope from the bench for easier sanding and painting. Lightly sand the wooden surfaces. Wipe off any excess dust.
    Step 0 Example
  2. Paint the bench using the listed Extreme Sheen colors. (See the final photo to see my color placement.) Let each coat dry before applying the next coat. Alternate colors as you wish. Paint the grate at the bottom in Sterling Silver.
    Step 1 Example
  3. Optional: Apply painter's tape to create crisp lines between colors; or just free-hand it carefully. Two or three coats will give it solid coverage and a bright sheen. Let dry completely.
    Step 2 Example
  4. After the bench is dry, re-attach the ropes; add some potted plants, and enjoy this summer vibes plant bench.
    Step 3 Example

Sand the bench lightly before painting so the paint will adhere better. Wipe dust off with a paper towel. You will want to use a few coats, so let dry between applications. Use DuraClear Satin Varnish if you decide to hang the plant holder swing outside.
