INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
Use the #3 round brush for all steps unless otherwise noted. Rinse and pat the brush dry between colors.
- Wipe down the surface of the mug with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel to remove any dirt or oils.
- Transfer the owl pattern to the mug: cut 3" x 3.5" box around the owl image and then cut the same-sized piece of transfer paper. Using transparent tape, secure transfer paper (charcoal side down) and owl pattern to mug. Trace over the owl pattern with a pencil. (Some tracing will rub off, but that's to be expected.)
- Begin painting the owl, one section at a time, from top to bottom using drag technique: squeeze out a line of paint and then go back and "drag" paint inward along contour of line using the #3 round brush.
- Using Turquoise and the drag technique, outline the top of owl's head and ears.
- Draw two circular outlines with White for eyes. (Use drag technique.)
- Repeat this process using Orange for beak; Turquoise for lower body; Pink for belly; Green for wings; and Yellow for feet.
- Once dry, squeeze out one dot of Black for each eye. Allow owl to dry completely.
- Apply daisy patterns (as described in step 2) and trace the daisies.
- Using Pink, outline each petal of daisy and use the drag technique to fill in petals.
- Once dry, squeeze small dot of Blue in center of each bloom.
- For second owl mug, repeat all steps, substituting following colors: owl body, Orange; wings, Turquoise; petals, Turquoise; feet, Green; and daisy dot, Pink.
- If desired, follow directions on back of paint labels to create durable, dishwasher-safe finish.
