SUPPLIES

• water container
• palette or plastic plate
• paper towels
• tracing paper
• transfer paper
• 1" flat brush
• #0 liner brush
• #4 flat brush
• 5" x 7" papier-mâché scrapbook
• stylus or ballpoint pen
• 150-grit sandpaper
• black ultra-fine felt tip pen

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Allow paint to dry between colors, coats, and steps.

1. Copy the pattern onto tracing paper, and using a stylus or ballpoint pen, transfer to the front of the scrapbook with graphite transfer paper underneath.
2. Use 1" flat brush to basecoat sky with 1:1 mix of Snow White and Baby Blue.
3. Use #4 flat brush to paint owl’s body and “u”, Peony Pink; heart, l, a, and o, Country Red; owl’s wings, Deep Burgundy; one leaf, first a, and middle of second a, Cadmium Yellow; three leaves, two ys, and middle of first a, Foliage Green; three leaves and s, Hauser Medium Green; leaf, middle of o, and w, Baby Pink; beak and feet, Jack-O’-Lantern Orange; eyes, Snow White; tree trunk and branches, Honey Brown; and opening behind owl Lamp Black.
4. Using the #0 liner brush, line in feathers on the owl’s chest with Baby Pink.
5. Using the handle end of a #0 liner brush, dot in eyes with Lamp Black.
6. Using the ultra-fine black marker, outline the owl, tree (including branches and bark), leaves, heart, and letters. (See photo.)
