INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Let dry completely between painting steps.

  1. Clean the urn thoroughly, removing any dirt.
    Step 0 Example
  2. Paint the base of the urn in Sprout Green, Desert Turquoise, and Pumpkin, using a 1" flat brush (and a #5 round brush for tight spaces). Work the paint into the surface rather than applying several coats. (Refer to photo for color placement.)
    Step 1 Example
  3. Paint the scroll leaves in Pumpkin. (Use a 1" flat brush and a #5 round brush in tight spaces.)
    Step 2 Example
  4. Paint the rim with Sprout Green. Keep some of the urn unpainted. (Refer to photo.) Paint the inside of the urn Sprout Green or Wrought Iron Black. (It is a personal preference.)
    Step 3 Example
  5. Using a #5 round brush, paint the vines, small leaves, and handles in Sprout Green.
    Step 4 Example
  6. Paint the main portion of the urn with Wrought Iron Black. Avoid getting the paint into any decorative large cracks and crevices.
    Step 5 Example
  7. Water down Rich Espresso (Metallic) on a palette or plastic plate. Brush some onto a small section of the urn, then immediately wipe off with a paper towel. Repeat until the entire urn is covered. Use a #3 round brush to paint into the cracks and crevices of the urn.
    Step 6 Example
  8. Tape off sections of the pumpkin one color at a time. Tape off two opposite sections to be painted Pumpkin (if using a color pumpkin other than orange). Paint the Pumpkin sections and remove tape. Let dry. Once dry, repeat in the pattern using Sprout Green, Wrought Iron Black, and Desert Turquoise. (Refer to photo.) Allow paint to cure between sections. Paint the stem in Pinecone Brown. Use streaks of Sprout Green and Wrought Iron Black to add dimension. Highlight with Rich Espresso (Metallic).
    Step 7 Example
  9. Water down more Rich Espresso (Metallic) on a palette or plastic plate. Brush this onto small sections of the pumpkin and immediately wipe off with a paper towel. Repeat until the entire pumpkin is covered.
    Step 8 Example
  10. To display, fill the urn with a bed of Spanish moss. Make a nest for the pumpkin to sit in. For a more secure display, stick a skewer into the bottom of the pumpkin and attach it to the bottom of the urn using E6000 Glue.
